America's views on English in India

OH GOD!! Mumbai Mirror is representing India to the world. For English.

For those not versed in Mumbai Mirror, Dr. Mahinder Watsa moderates and writes in one of the most hilarious pieces appearing in Indian newspapers today.

Steve from Silicon Valley blogs that:
"Note: I found this funny, silly, and also kind of charming. The use of English in India is just different in curious ways. The whole manner of dialogue and of question-and-answer is just very different. Direct, naive, brusque. This seemed to capture it pretty well."

Read here. Head hung in shame that Mumbai Mirror (the fattest free newspaper in the world) is making news.

Update: Heard from Yazad that the good doctor himself is quite reputed - one of the country's first sexologist and still runs a clinic at the age of 80. I just wonder, why is he answering the same questions again and again everyday? Must be crazy to tell some person everyday that sex without condoms causes AIDS and that oral sex doesn't cause pregnancy.
