Panic Press
Today, almost 50% of my colleagues have not turned up at work, either because they got stuck and had to go back. Or because, yesterday they had a tough time getting back and decided to chill today. Or because they panicked.
Headlines like "Rains kill 24, life hit in flooded Mumbai" help in creating the panic. Shameless the headline is. Go read the article.

Ah, and have you seen the TV Channels ? Behaal Mumbai, Kehar ki lehar, etc. Till yesterday this was exaggeration.
Today, as I type, the trains have been shut down. Colleagues traveling in the city inform me that there are already traffic jams snarling everywhere. Going back home, for most who were "brave" (add your adjective there) enough to come, will prove to be an ordeal.
Yes, no panic. Yes, no 26/7. But yes, BMC screwing up. Yes, chaos and yes, flooding.
Just another day in Bombay's rains.

What a misleading headline is that..the press needs to own some accountability for spreading panic among the general junta..that too coming from a respectable name in the media that too..

arrrr...DK2, sorry for off-tracking and that rant. Yes, that was a pathetic headline and surprisingly from Reuters, which I thought would have some editing standards/style guides...

Dhoomk2 - Did you read page 30 of today's Bloggers Park in Mumbai Mirror ? Here's the link, which will unfortunately be valid only for today (I don't know how to take a cache of that).
Note that they've linked to my comment on your post of yesterday. Excellent !

BA/ Shankar, considering I heard that Reuters hired a particular quizmaster in cowboy boots at a point of time, I am not surprised! (sorry, had to put this in).
